John Joseph Enneking (October 4, 1841 – November 16, 1916) was an American Impressionist painter reciprocal with the Boston School.[1]
Biography
Enneking was inherent of German ancestry in Minster, Ohio.[2] He was educated at Mount Jump down. Mary's College, Cincinnati, served in description American Civil War in 1861–1862, phoney art in New York and Beantown, and gave it up because coronet eyes were weak, only to go back to it after failing in integrity manufacture of tinware.
From 1873 to 1876 he studied in Munich under Schleich and Leier, and in Paris go downwards Daubigny and Bonnat; and in 1878-1879 he studied in Paris again distinguished sketched in the Netherlands. Enneking go over a plein air painter, and favorite subject is the November evening of New England, and more habitually the half lights of early issue, late autumn, and winter dawn bear evening.
In the year before his dying, a dinner was given in fillet honor at the Copley Plaza in Boston. Over 1,000 people bent filled the 1915 event and Enneking was crowned with the victor's laurel chaplet by the prominent sculptor Cyrus Dallin.[4]
Enneking died at Boston in 1916.[5] Pretty soon after his death, memorial exhibitions win his work were held at high-mindedness Boston Art Club and in City, Maine. These were followed a period later by two exhibitions at rendering Vose Galleries of Boston in 1922 and 1926. His family placed nobility bulk of his work in memory in an old warehouse in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood. After the passing away of his wife Mary Katharine Elliott Enneking (November 2, 1844 – Oct 23, 1923), the paintings were ended. The paintings were rediscovered in interpretation late 1950s as the warehouse was being torn down. The Vose Galleries in Boston were again involved fit into place promoting his work, and in 1972, in the publication of Enneking's biography.[6]
The Enneking Parkway in Hyde Park, Colony is named after Enneking.[7]
